The 6thDisruptHR Denver is less than two months away! And this crazy little event is only as good as the topics that are submitted, so fulfill one of your bucket list items and “Sign Up to Disrupt.” That’s right: you.
Deadline for submissions is Aug. 27th, 5pm MDT. The only qualifications: your topic is related to the workplace and includes unconventional thinking on how to do “people practices” better. Need not be in HR to apply. In fact, we strongly encourage business leaders from other functions to apply. Really, anyone passionate about talent in the workplace should be doing this. Again, that means you.
Past topics have included culture-before-strategy, having fun (gasp!) at work, mindfulness for managers, strengths-based leadership, employee rights versus healthcare costs, (idea) sex in talent management, the death of performance evaluations, overhauling workplace communication, pocket-sized training, atypical looks at generations in the workplace, what the CEO wants really wants from HR and more. Truly nothing is off limits as long as it relates to making our workplaces better! [Well, traditional topics reiterating the way we’ve always done it are for sure a no-no.]
Best advice: give the speaker committee your best sales pitch in your application blurb (that’s a technical term), focusing on why your topic is actually disruptive to conventional thinking and why HR (and other business leaders) needs to hear it NOW.
And, if you have real data, a case study, the top 7 tips, a how-to guide or other practical take-aways for the audience — versus waxing bitter about blowing up HR (we’ve read the articles too) — include that in your application. You’ll get major brownie points.
