ICC recently released the results of a new global survey identifying the most significant people challenges that over 500 organizations from North America, Europe and Australia reported facing, and the results are stunning.
“We’re grateful to our clients across the globe who took the time to share their firsthand knowledge and insights,” said Susan Ruhl, founding partner of ICC, Inc and Co-Chair of OI Global Partners. ICC in coordination with their national and international practice, OI Global Partners, conducted the proprietary survey to uncover the Future of Work and pinpoint common challenges and risks, global businesses are facing and the solutions they are implementing to manage a changing work landscape.
Key findings reported.
The most significant people challenges that organizations reported currently facing.
Adapting to change
Engaging employees
Attracting and hiring new talent
Managers lacking coaching skills
Retaining key talent
So, what skills should employees possess to be competitive in the workplace today? ICC found that the most sought-after skills for future talent include:
Strong communication skills
Leadership agility
Eagerness to learn
Emotional intelligence
The understanding of analytics
Further developing talent of employees has become essential for high achievement and success in a business environment. The five most effective methods employers are using to develop and advance the skills of their talent are:
One-to-one coaching with external coaches
Mentoring programs
Internal leadership development programs
Assessments
Career conversations
“ICC’s professional coaches are a resource for developing an organization’s leaders to sharpen skills, engage employees and improve team performance, prioritize and address pressing organizational issues, to manage strategically and capitalize on new opportunities,” added Ruhl. “When you engage us to train your managers to build their coaching skills, they conduct more effective career conversations leading to clarity in goal-setting, stronger employee engagement, excellence in performance, and retention of the best talent.”
The survey also highlighted the roles that are currently at higher risk in the workplace:
Administrative roles
Manufacturing and production jobs
Middle management
Finance and accounting
Support staff
“As you need assistance to bring the right talent on board or transition the wrong employees out of your organization, our talent management and compassionate outplacement services will extend and enhance your brand,” continued Ruhl. “Taking advantage of our resources will only generate higher performance levels in the workplace.”
